People Get Paid to Do What They Love. You should too!
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Ok ok, so I haven’t posted in a while. My bad!
I have been working on some awesome things for YOU! So don’t get too crazy.
Here’s what I want to get off of my chest:
Everybody deserves to do exactly what they want to do for work.
Imagine this: A job where you get to travel to some of the most amazing places on Earth. On your days off you can go scuba diving or snowboarding. You can volunteer in local communities or learn how to speak another language. You could go whale watching or paragliding. Basically, you get paid to be on vacation.
Sound too good to be true? (more…)

Decide Who YOU Will Be – A real life hero, with extraordinary super powers
Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009
Forget about Heroes, Spiderman, the Dark Knight and any other costume wearing characters.
Terry Fox.
Those two words are enough to make my chest burn and give me goosebumps. He is a real-life super hero.
When I am speaking with young people, I am constantly getting them to make 4 decisions. The two hardest decisions to make are; decide what you want to do and who you want to be.
Many times, who you are is based on what you do.
I was going to write a huge blog entry about how to leave your mark and do extraordinary things. I was going to write about the things we can learn from Terry Fox but this video does it for me.
Take 8 minutes to watch this video. I give you permission to do it at school, at your office or while your girlfrend is trying to talk to you.
What will you do? And more importantly, who will you be?

September Doesn’t Suck! – 4 Ways to Have a Great Year (Part II)
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
So Neo didn’t have the best advice in part one. In fact, I am still not too sure what he was talking about.
Here’s Part II, enjoy!
PART TWO
Decision 2: Decide where you will go.
When I talk about the school year, I am not only talking about the time you are in the classroom. I am talking about from the first day of school until your last day of exams. This includes your weekends, evenings and holidays.
Where do you want to go this year?
Think about taking a road trip with some of your best friends. Maybe you could take a graduation trip to Europe or a spring break trip to a different city nearby. Why don’t you jump on the bus and go visit your grandparents in Chicago or uncle in Seattle. (more…)

September Doesn’t Suck! – 4 Ways to Have a Great Year (Part I)
Friday, September 4th, 2009

It’s never fun saying good-bye to summer. You had a great time. Maybe you went to the cottage, or maybe you traveled abroad. You probably had a family BBQ where you had to tell your grandma that you actually liked her potato salad even though she mistook onions for potatoes and mothballs for eggs.
Whatever you did this summer, chances are, it was a good one. Summer usually is.
That brings us here. September. Not only is it the month that Lil Wayne, Beyonce, Hilary Duff, Keanu Reeves and Dr. Phil were born in, it’s usually the month that school starts.
We all know Keanu Reeves as Neo in The Matrix Trilogy and since he was born in the month that school starts, I decided to ask Neo if he had any advice for this upcoming year.
Hey Neo, any advice for people starting a new school year? (more…)

Je Ne Comprends Pas: 5 Tips to Speak and Understand Another Language
Sunday, August 2nd, 2009
Konnichiwa. Bonjour. Hola. Shalom. G’day. Guten tag. Hello.
I love languages. I still struggle with English but I love new languages! I love the fact that everywhere you go people are communicating in their own way and it works! I am also (slowly) learning a new language. I have been studying Japanese for the past 3 years and it’s been incredible.
Learning a new language literally opens a whole new world and gives you opportunities that you couldn’t have had otherwise. (Not to mention it makes you look a lot cooler than the fake Jeopardy nametag and plastic glasses you’ve been wearing for the past 3 weeks – stop that).
After trying a bunch of different ways of studying, I have my own method these days. Here are my top 5 tips for learning a new language.
1. LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE
The most important part of learning a new language is hearing what it’s supposed to sound like. You want to make sure you can sound as natural as possible so you don’t make weird mistakes like telling a girl she is KOWAI (scary) instead of KAWAII (cute) – I watched a friend do this in a nightclub in Japan, I then watched the same friend get a drink thrown at him. True story. (more…)

Make Your Own Lunch – The Blog
Friday, July 17th, 2009

This is it. You asked for it so I deliver it, just like a pizza but with less garlic so you can still kiss someone after consuming it.
The Make Your Own Lunch™ blog.
This is the place for you to come and learn how you can Make Your Own Lunch™. (Psst, hey new guy, Make Your Own Lunch™ isn’t really about food… Click here to learn about it)
This blog is a place where you can learn about what other people have done to Make Their Own Lunch and how you can do the same. You’ll learn about travel, education, money, hygiene (if you have to pause to smell you shirt -and it smells like a Junior Whopper – I’m talking to you) and a lot of other cool stuff.
You wanna learn how you can volunteer in Thailand, working with sick elephants? That will be here here. You wanna know how I got the chance to move to Japan to teach English in the heart of Tokyo or how I backpacked across Europe and Central America? (more…)
